Wigan 1-0 Bristol City: Robins Endure Narrow Defeat in Wigan

Bristol City suffered a narrow defeat at the DW Stadium at the hands of Paul Cook’s Wigan Athletic this evening in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

City produced a below-par display against a hard-working Wigan side in Greater Manchester. A second half header from former Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell was the only goal goal of the game as the high-scoring game that many anticipated didn’t occur.

A first half chance saw Andreas Weimann fail to get a shot away after being put through on goal courtesy of a rare mistake from the Wigan back-four. The Austrian ace was very quiet this evening and not his clinical self in front of goal.

Other than that chance early on, City had a minimal amount of chances with Famara Diedhiou, who was very poor this evening, squandering a free header in added on time at the end of the 90.

A disappointing week for Bristol City after a narrow win at home to Sheffield United before conceding four goals and losing 4-2 to Darren Moore’s West Bromwich Albion.

City will not be in action during the midweek Carabao Cup games after enduring a defeat to Plymouth Argyle in the first round, but will be back in action in another Friday night game, but this time at Ashton Gate as they take on Aston Villa.
