Leicester City Preview vs Liverpool

This weekend, a massive challenge lies ahead for the Foxes with Liverpool making a trip down to The King Power Stadium.

Leicester will enter the game in high spirits after smashing Fleetwood Town 4-0 in the Carabao Cup and having won two of the previous three Premier League games. Jamie Vardy will be looking to come back into the starting line up after his red card omitted him from the last 3 games. However, he’ll face stiff competition from Kelechi Iheanacho after the Nigerian striker had a great game against Fleetwood, in which he managed to get on the score board.

However, nobody doubts that Liverpool are one of the toughest teams in the Premier League this year, having won their first three games so far and having not conceded a goal yet due to the form of new shot stopper Allison. Leicester will face danger from everywhere on the pitch with a (finally) solid defence, a hardened midfield and my personal choice for the back attacking front line in the Premier League. For Leicester to form any true attack in this game, they need to play on the counter and try to exploit the space between how high Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson play. Players like Vardy and James Maddison will need to be on form to exploit those chances and look to gain something out of a very tough game.

I’m predicting that Leicester will push in the game, keeping it close and even breaking Liverpool’s clean sheet record, but I think Liverpool will still come out winners as they push on to challenge for the title.

Player to watch – Harry Maguire: While it would be easy to pick out a player like Maddison to watch out for in this game I’m choosing Maguire. Maguire had a stunning World Cup with England this summer and has carried that form straight into the Premier League this season, having carried Leicester to a victory last week against Southampton with his winning goal in extra time. This weekend he’ll face his toughest challenge so far coming up against Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. It’s time for the big man to really step up against a top 4 attack.

Predicted score:
Leicester City 1 – 2 Liverpool

Predicted Line-up: Schmeichel; Amartey, Morgan, Maguire, Chilwell; Mendy, Ndidi; Pereira, Maddison, Gray; Vardy.
